Vermont Writes!

Thanks to those who participated. It was really interesting to see how the students responded to “on demand” writing. Many thanks to the EcoStars, who did a wonderful job collecting the writing, to Mary Ellis and Karen Tyler who helped organize it. You can also go to the website at http://vermontwrites.ywpschools.net/ and read the writing by students all over Vermont, and post comments. Try it !

Afghanistan

Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a place that alot of soldiers are fighting for us, risking their lives.  Sometimes I wish that Afghanistan was a peaceful place and that they were there because there was a big field of flowers.  Roses, orchids, sunflowers, and even butterflies flying high in the sky, the sun shining bright.  My grandfather was in the army, he says its scary so scary but I pray that war will end and my dream will come true.

Dark Heart

I've never seen such a deep shade of purple.  It's your heart, it's as dark as a stormy night.  So mean and bitter.  Now that I'm gone I can't feel that mean loneliness kind of feeling that you gave me when I was near.  And no, I will never come back, for without you I am free.  Without you, I am happy.  Without your deep shade of purple heart, and your mean, bitter soul, I am golden.  I've never seen such a deep shade of purple.

The Surprise of My Life

I had the surprise of my life when I opened the door and saw something looking at me.  It was orange with green stripes and had claws and a long tail.  I decided it was from the future.  It looked as if it was a small dragon but it didn't have wings.  I had to get to school so I closed the door and opened it again and again but it didn't go away.  I scooped it up and put it in my backpack.  It made such a fuss in my backpack I gave it my snack to keep it quiet, hoping it wouldn't get anyone's attention.

Skunk In A Can

I had the surprise of my life when I opened the door and saw a skunk in my garbage can.  So after I saw it I closed the door fast and told my dad and my dad, let's just say scared it out of the garage.  That was the surprise of my life.

The Purple Fish

I was fishing and I got a tug on the line.  I pulled it up and there was something on the line.  I didn't know what it was but I have never seen such a deep shade of purple.  It was very big.  I knew what it was now it was a gide!  I put it back.

Afghanistan

When I hear the word Afghanistan I think of my uncle.  Because he fights for our freedom in the United States.  Also when I hear that word it makes me feel sad because he is going to be gone for 10 months.

Purple

I've never seen such a deep shade of purple.  It blooms like a flower.  It is pretty as a butterfly.  It looks like the sky when the sun starts tofall.  If it is purple I see it is purple I get.

The Dragon

I had the surprise of my life when I opened the door and saw a dragon.  The dragon was in my room jumping on my bed.  Apparently I was disturbing it because it burned my hair.  I was now officially bald.  I put the dragon in the fireplace.  It died.  Now I had a different problem.  I was bald.  My mom came home.  She said, "Let's go buy a wig."  I said, "That's a good idea."  We went to the mall and bought a wig.  But when we were in there our town had an alien invasion.  Everyone was gone but us.  We searched for hours. Then we saw a UFO.  We went inside.  I kicked some alien butt.  Then we got the key and unlocked everyone.  I almost died from that hug.  Then we had a giant party that never ended, and lived happily ever after.

We had fun playing house.  God is the best!  We have fun. It really was fun.  God really is fun to play with.  We had fun and we took turns being the cop.  God is fun.  We have fun.

I've Never Seen

I've never seen such a deep shade of purple: when I see a deep shade of purple I think of the sunset.  When I think of purple I think of outside.  I think of art and some artwork that I did.  Purple is a beautiful sight.  I've never seen it like this but purple reminds me of my family.

Alissa Geremski, Grade 2

Purple

I think purple is a
nice sign for sympathy,
And hope.
just think of all the
light shades of purple,
And all the dark,
think when the sun
hits it just right
you say "oh my, so beautiful."

The Surprise of My Life

I had the surprise of my life when I opened the door.  There was a tornado coming my way.  It was all gray and blackish.  My mom suddenly pulled me back and brought me to the basement, and my dad shut the doors.  Suddenly I heard the windows being smashed open, everything destroyed.  About three hours later we came out of the basement.  Then I saw it, our whole house crushed.

Afghanistan

Night in Afghanistan
A bullet whines by
On the ground! A sargeant yells
A bomb explodes at our feet
Nothing except the sounds of the night.
