Our chorus program is now taking place on Friday afternoons under the direction of our music teacher, Mrs. Ewell. We are proud to announce that we 52 5th and 6th grade students participating in our chorus. After just a couple of rehearsals they are sounding absolutely beautiful.
Mrs. Ewell is delighted to report that the new 5th and 6th Grade Chorus met for the first time on August 31 and 52 boys and girls turned out for the rehearsal! This is the first time that Chorus has been included in the school day instead of meeting during recess and the large number of students indicates that Swanton Central School has a lot of students who like to sing. The repertoire for the fall/winter term includes “Talk Like a Pirate”, a novelty song in honor of International Talk Like a Pirate Day (Sept. 19), a jazz tune called “The Old Soft Shoe”, and Katy Perry’s hit “Firework”. Chorus members will learn warm-ups, work on singing technique, and become familiar with using choral scores, following a conductor, and what is expected of chorus members: regular attendance, respectful attention in rehearsals, and working as a team. We are off to a wonderful start!
