Mrs. Christine Depatie receives the VASE Science Teacher of the Year.
The members of the VASE Academy recognize the critical importance to Vermont and the nation of educating the next generation of scientists and engineers. This responsibility is carried out by the dedicated educators in the Vermont K-12 school systems.
Each year VASE honors an outstanding educator at the primary school level and one from secondary school community with our “Teacher of the Year” award.

It is reported that 55 percent of students carry a backpack heavier than the recommended guideline of 15 percent of the child’s body weight. On September 20th, Swanton Elementary School will be sending home a backpack safety flyer to raise awareness of the proper way to wear backpacks. For more information on how backpack safety can help you or your family, visit the National School Backpack Awareness Day Web site at www.aota.org/backpack.

Walk to School Wednesday starts Sept 6 and will continue weekly until Christmas break. We will use the same 5 starting locations (Rec Field, Swanton Meadows, Village Green, Church of the Nativity, and corner of Bushey and Leduc) and a few busses will stop and allow children to get off and walk if they choose to do so. If you DO NOT want your student to get off the bus, please call Wendy the school nurse and let her know. We look forward to a happy and healthful school year with your children!
