2018 – 2019 Budget Time and Budget Information

Absentee Ballots will be available at the Town Clerk’s Office the week of February 19.  Starting February 19, you can also go into the Town Clerk’s Office between 7 am and 5 pm to vote.

Budget InformationPredicted Budget Expenditures FY19

ON THE BALLOT

Vermont State Law requires our ballot to inform voters that the “Education Spending per Equalized Pupil” has DECREASED by 7.25% over last year.

Swanton’s FY19 Proposed Spending per Equalized Pupil is $13,266

$1,038 LESS than LAST YEAR AND MUCH LOWER THAN THE STATE AVERAGE

“Education Spending per Equalized Pupil” is:
The proposed School Budget Amount  –  $8,397,480
MINUS anticipated State and Federal Revenues  –  $1,020,990
DIVIDED BY # of Equalized Pupils  –  556.06

Adjustments from last year:

  1. Professional and support staff contract negotiations were completed several months ago and these wage scales are in place for the fiscal year 2019.
  2. New, less expensive, Health Care plans were initiated statewide January 1, 2018.
  3. Health Reimbursement Accounts are now available for most employees.

Fiscal Services have been centralized and are now part of the Central Office Assessment
