SWANTON SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING MINUTES

6/4/ 2009 Budget Meeting

Present:

Board Members:  Don Collins, Chair, Roy Eckler, PattiJo Walker, April Kilbury,  

Administration:  Julie Benay, Principal, Becky Hart, Business Manager, Dr. John McCarthy 

Don Collins motioned to open the meeting at 11:03 a.m., which was seconded by PattiJo Walker.  Becky Hart stated that this financial packet is close to final for 2008 – 2009 school years.  She does expect a few more expenditures by the end of June. 

Don suggested a tentative meeting for June 25th to discuss the actual final numbers.  Don is concerned with the substitute salaries.  He wants to discuss this further at next board meeting and might request administration to create spread sheet. 

Julie Benay expressed she will renew school subscriptions i.e.; “Scholastic News”, and this is in no way deficit spending.  These subscriptions must be renewed now for 2009-2010 school year. 

Don Collins is concerned about spending plans not being submitted in a timely fashion and these categories being zeroed out.  Julie will discuss with staff regarding spending plans and having them submitted in a timely fashion.  And all concerns regarding spending plans should be brought to her attention. 

Don Collins moved to enter executive session at 11:53am seconded by April Kilbury.  The Board approved the motion. 

Small executive session followed.  April Kilbury made motion to enter executive session at 11:54 seconded by PattiJo Walker. The board approved the motion. Don motioned to exit executive session at 12:45 seconded by Roy Eckler.  The board approved the motion.

No motions made after executive session. 

Don Collins declared the meeting adjourned at 12:45.
